The deadline for the upcoming conservation stamp art contest featuring the black bear is Tuesday, March 1, 2011, according to a release from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Artists from around the state are invited to send their artwork to the Cheyenne office postmarked by that date in order to be eligible to be judged in the contest. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department selected the black bear as the featured species for the 2012 stamp. The winning artist receives a cash award of $3,500. Second place receives $1,500 and third place gets $750. The competition is open to professional artists and will culminate with judging and a reception in Cheyenne at the Game and Fish headquarters on April 8. Information including rules and deadlines on the Conservation Stamp Art Contest is on the Game and Fish website http://gf.state.wy.us. Printed rules and entry forms are available and will be mailed to requesting artists.
