SUMMARY:Run With the Horses Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Great run opportunity right in your backyard the Run with the Horses Marathon\,   Marathonand 10 K are just around the corner. The Chamber is looking forward again to runners coming in from all over the United States to participate in this challenging\, but beautiful run. The Run with the Horses Race is held in conjunction with the River Festival. If you are not up to a full marathon or   marathon then the Run with the Horses 10k race/walk is a great option for you!  This year's run will start at the Islandand follow the Green Belt path west to the railroad underpass.   From the underpass it will head north to Flaming Gorge Waythan west to the Wild Horse loop road.  From the Hampton Inn participants will proceed a mile up the canyon then make the turn and head back to the start.\n\n      This is a really easy second half with a little challenge from the two mile mark to the three mile turn around.  If you have never ran a 6 mile run this is a great one to try.  There will be aid stations along the route along with refreshments at the finish. Green River's finest will patrol the intersections and the Sweetwater Search & Rescue volunteers will be sweeping the course on the county road.  Trophies for the first overall male and female will be awarded.  This year we have very unique custom made medals for all 10k finishers which is similar to the marathon medal but smaller. \n\n       Now if six miles is not enough challenge than give our half marathon a try.  It has a couple of miles more up hill but a great finish.  Get a chance to Green Riverfrom the top of White Mountain.  "Wow"\, what a view especially at 7:00 a.m.Come run with horses and yes there are horses on the route!\n\n       Only a half dozen of our local marathoners have ever run our marathon.  This definitely is not a personal best time course but it is unique in it own.  We are one of the few races that cater to our runners.  We provide water\, Gatorade\, food\, ice chips and search and rescue riders.  A couple of us have run it a couple of times and the horses always get curious and come down near the road to see what is going on.  You will occasionally see and elk or deer along with a few antelope. It is always a great way to spend an early Saturday morning.   As always walkers are welcome.  There are several who are walking the full twenty six miles this year.\n\n       Sign up forms are available at the Green River Chamber\, 1155 W.
